Standards for Technology in Automotive Retail (STAR) is a nonprofit, dues-paying organization whose members include dealers, manufacturers, retail system providers, and automotive-related industry organizations.
The goal of STAR is to use non-proprietary technology (IT)standards as a catalyst in fulfilling the business information needs of dealers and manufacturers while reducing the time and effort required to support related activities.

What Is STAR?
Standards for Technology in Automotive Retail (STAR) is a nonprofit, dues-paying organization whose members include dealers, manufacturers, business system providers, and automotive related industry organizations.
STAR’s original charter was to support the retail automotive industry, however in recent years it has expanded its support effectively demonstrating value in related industries including:

How We Work
STAR releases a new version of the STAR Standards on a yearly basis. New content and changes are decided on by representatives of STAR's current member organizations.
In addition to expanding related- industry support, STAR has also grown from a US-centric organization to a global solution supporting:
